Having fun with air dry clay and Wild Women!

I am currently enrolled in two online classes. Mixed Media With Suzi Blu and Nancye's art dolls. I so love the online class concept. They are so convenient. I have such a busy work schedule, and these classes allow me to work at my own pace and check in when I have time. I know online classes have been around for a while, but it seems that they are becoming more and more popular. Maybe it is just me, but I have put it out there that I want to take more classes, and the Universe is sending me lots of fabulous links and information. My goal is to teach my own online class and I have several concepts that I am working on.

Since I label myself a Mixed Media Artist, I take it upon my self to learn and absorb as many techniques as I can. I never get tired of learning and applying something new. I love how the title, "Mixed Media" doesn't pin point me to a certain medium. It is quite liberating, actually. Last month while at CHA in Anaheim, one of the vendors asked me, What is a Mixed Media Artist? At first, I thought she was playing, but then I said, seriously? For me, it means I use any type of medium or genreI am feeling at the moment. I don't like rules within my creating, and since my attention span can be extremely short, I don't have to focus on the same ol, same ol, and I don't have to commit to a certain craft or art.

Ok, I major digressed here, my point of my blog was to share a couple of Art dolls I just made using air dry clay. (sculpting anything beyond a skull is new to me)

The first doll was inspired by a homework assignment for the Divine Goddess Class with Suzi Blu. I used a push mold for the face, and I embellished a paper mache torso I purchased at a craft store. Tranquility, Wisdom, and Intuition were my muses for this doll.

I gave her to my girlfriend, Sharon as a gift. She actually was my ultimate muse behind the birth of this doll.

This second doll is actually a wand. This was a free assignment through Nancy's Art Doll Workshop. She gave out this freebie as an introduction to her actual class, that I am so looking forward to taking. She teaches step by step, and although my sculpting is very rough, she actually made me want to give it a go. Had I not taken her tutorial, there would have been no way, would I ever try to hand sculpt a face.

She kinda looks like an alien, here.

Paint does wonders, however my husband still says she looks like a drag queen. I will take that as a compliment, because I LOVE me some drag queens! Rarrrw!

I love those yoli. Great job. I have a rag doll I bought minus clothes and face that I am going to try to work on some day. Right now it is getting too springy and there is work to be done outside. Great job with your classes. Take care.

I love youyr wild spirit of adventure! How wonderful your dolls are! Okay, the first doll is outstanding - I love the colours and her face is so beautiful, but WTG you for sculpting your own doll's face. She reminds me of 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert'!
