Last SCARY CRAFT "NIGHT OF THE CREATORS" FOR 2008!

It's true, we are wrapping up our last Scary Craft night for this year. We will be resuming our Scary Craft Nights after the holiday season.

In honor of one of my favorite holidays, I will be doing a tutorial of Sugar Skulls!

I will be providing small blank "authentic" sugar skulls for a buck each, and I will also be bringing a few embellishments. To further enhance your sugar skull, be sure to bring your own embellishments and glues.

Here is a recap of last month's amazing night as well as information on this month's challenge!

(Written previously by the fetching, Krissi Sandvik)

SEPTEMBER'S NIGHT OF THE CREATORS: Last month's NIGHT OF THE CREATORS featuring local Sacramento artist, super-dad, sci-fi enthusiast and all around cool dude, C!nder, was a huge success. Here are a few photos of the customized Skull Bats (if you have a photo of a custom skull bat by C!nder you'd like featured here, e-mail me at art@krissisandvik.com).
September's Skull Bats!
C!nder said he had a blast and is interested in coming back in 2009, so OF COURSE we immediately extended an open invitation! Keep your eyes peeled for a new project/make and take.

CREATIVE CHALLENGE: Again inspired by (well, stolen from actually) a recent blog / project / swap by La Yoli, the current challenge is a simple, but underrated one. Commit Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) - the Art Version. It's easy. Simply jot an inspirational note or create a small art piece and leave it in public for someone to randomly discover and enjoy, and of course, take a photo of your kindly deed. It helps to put a tag or note on art pieces telling the folks that yes, it's now theirs! The women involved in the swap (most notably, Jill Allyn of Vox Sacto renown), are really taking this challenge to heart. Check out the photos on Yoli's RAK Flickr group!

There really aren't rules to this one. If you have a Flickr account and have photos of RA's of K, post 'em. No Flickr account? You can blog about your RAK's and post a link to your blog here. Of course, option 3 is to be really random and just sit back knowing that you made someone's day.

NIGHT OF THE CREATORS - OCT.: Let's face it, we're all busy all year long, but there's just NO available time for most folks in November and December when schedules are stretched thin with either parents or children . Therefore, Scary CRAFT packs up the supplies and goes into hibernation until January around this time of the year. However, there's still time for one more Night of the Creators and we saved something really great for last!

Scary CRAFT's own Yoli Manzo will be providing hand-molded sugar skulls ($1 supply fee each) for everyone to decorate in their own style! Just bring your own edible or non-edible embellishments and make your own custom calaverita de azucar for your Dia de los Muertos ofrenda! We'll even have some limited glitter glues and a few other goodies available in the Scary CRAFT community supply box, but feel free to use this night as a great opportunity for a supply swap!

Thanks for all of your support in our first year and best wishes for 2009!
