Behind A Sacred Snatchita

Behind Sacred Snatch

Yes Chicas,

it is time for me to bring out the girl behind "Sacred Snatch". A lot of you are wondering how the name came about. LOL, it started out with a small group of intimate friends. You know the kind. The kind that you can share anything with. Advice, sorrows, secrets, laughter, triumphs and defeats. I have been blessed with meeting such chicas. We created a small forum and would check on each other daily. As a term of endearment, we would jokingly call each other "Snatches"

Soon, the artist inside of me started begging me to start creating. To keep my personal page different from my "artist" page, I created a new myspace page, and in my homegirl's honor, I called it "Sacred Snatch. I had NO IDEA what kind of response that name or page would generate. I mean, one minute I am gluing stuff to match boxes, and then the next minute I am participating at an art show at the De Young Museum!

Wow, is a real understatement! I would also get mixed reviews of my name. I would get letters of "encouragement" from other chicas, and I would get, raised eye brows from "the man". I never had any real plans on where my art would take me. Just an outlet that worked for me. I have been invited to participate in other events, but on occassion, I would have to edit my name. Last year a local TV channel invited me on their morning program to talk about my art, and Dia De Los Muertos. Of course the general manager said, no way, will they use my name on air. I didn't blame them, but at the same time, I couldn't give them any other contact information because everything, including my web page, myspace and all other sites had my "Sacred Snatch" label.

Fast forward to today, and after months of deliberation, I have decided to drop the snatch, and just add my first name behind "Sacred". I am still the same chica, but just toning down my name. lol, I am sure it will take a while to build back up my presence here on the web. I spent so much time on the other name, that it pretty much took a life of it's own. But life is all about change and like it or not, I have to embrace it.

I would like to ask all of you to add my new blog to your favorites, or to subscribe. After this weekend's show, I will slowly start transfering all I can to my new blog. If any of you have any advice on how I can transfer any of my old blogs, (mainly my tutorials) I would be forever grateful. I will double post this page to my old blogspot, but soon, I will not be writing there anymore.

Again, thank you so much for sticking with me, you are truly appreciated.

Besos,

Sacred Yoli

Totally understandable! I added your blog to my rss reader. :)

You should be able to import blog posts - but have you thought of moving to your own domain and wordpress? WP is awesome and easy! And free - all you pay is for your domain and hosting.

Holy Yoli! That's a big change. Good for you!

I second the idea to get your own domain name. It's easy and inexpensive. No good reason not to go for it.

Also, I'd advise that you don't abandon you old blog, just redirect your traffic to your new space.

One more thing, have you considered creating a Ning site (like Suzi Blu)? Again, easy and inexpensive, but loads of potential. Loads!

P.S. If you need a web designer/online marketing guru, you know who to call, right?

Thanks girly! I'll have to look into the ning thingy. I barely spent time on Suzi's other than to download new homework assignments.

I may have to hit you up for an "ehem" new banner or ideas. :-D
It wasn't just the name that got you recognition, you are one talented chica! I believe there's an option somewhere when you create a new blog (if you use blogger again) where you can take your posts from another blog. Come to think of it, you might be able to import them with other blogging sites as well. If you can't figure it out, email me and I'll take a look!

Yoli

I understand. I just split my blogs in two so I could talk freely on one and do crafty stuff on the other. I like kids being invited to the art table, so I'm down with your decision.

I tell my daughter often about the true meaning of some words folks use to demean women and I think it's a powerful thing reclaiming our sexuality and power. That being said, there's a time and a place for everything.

xoxo
